Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute was originally established in 1972 as the Central Asian Pediatric Medical Institute. The main objective of the institute was to train highly qualified doctors and pediatricians due to the absence of pediatricians in the region and the high infant mortality rate. In 1989 the Uzbekistan Ministry of Health renamed the institute Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute.
The Institute welcomes all international students to become a part of the most innovative Pediatric Institute in Uzbekistan. The specialists and professors of the institution work hard to deliver the best medical knowledge and share their experiences.
The Institute has prepared more than 29,500 medical doctors and practitioners since its founding in 1972. The institution’s mission is to provide the highest quality of courses in pediatrics and medicine for both local and international students in Uzbekistan.
The teaching staff of the Institute consists of more than 500 doctors of sciences, professors, physicians, and associate professors training prominent professionals in the field of Pediatry through innovative pedagogy. The Institute includes 6 faculties of medicine, more than 150 dedicated clinical and theoretical departments, and modern Child Clinics and clinical bases in Tashkent for gaining medical knowledge in practice.
All the educational courses in medicine are available in English and Russian. Every faculty provides Undergraduate medical courses and Postgraduate study specialties in conjunction with dedicated clinical and theoretical departments. Clinical Residence and Internship programs are also available for each specialty. The main aim of the clinical residency is to provide professional knowledge and improve the medical skills of specialists to prepare highly qualified doctors for autonomous work in the healthcare field.

Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute offers accommodation in the form of hostels for its students. Hostel rules are rigid, however, and followed by all students. When the university hostel is full because of an influx of students, the university provides students with hostel homes upon presenting legal documentation.
All hostel guests must present valid identification cards and the building is well secured. Internet access is available at the hostel, as well as a clean and hygienic canteen. For those students who would like to cook for themselves, a kitchen is available. After a long day, students can rest in the comfortable environment of the hostel.
At the hostel, the students are also provided with basic facilities such as groceries, transport facilities, public internet, advanced laboratories, and much more at a comparatively less price. It has separate rooms for males and females which are well furnished with all the basic amenities and equipment and are comfortable. Other than that, facilities such as a self-kitchen system, spacious playgrounds, advanced laboratories, a gymnasium, laundry, and high-speed internet are available at the hostels.
The Department of International Relations of TashPMI is a subdivision of the TashPMI administration performing organizational support for the Institute’s activities in the field of international relations.
The main tasks:
Active participation within bilateral partnership agreements and Asian exchange programs has promoted wide cooperation activities within the ERASMUS+ program. The number of agreements with European and Asian partner universities has grown tremendously within the last 5 years anticipating more intensive exchanges of students and teachers. At present, the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute has signed more than 1000 agreements with 450 educational institutions in 33 Asian programs and over 35 Inter-institutional agreements with 17 partner countries.
