Poznań is a city on the River Warta in west-central Poland, within the Greater Poland region. Poznań is a city in Poland that’s packed with great things to see and do. The city is steeped in history, yet enjoys a youthful and laid-back vibe with flourishes of modern architecture and public artwork.
Similarly to many cities across the world, the city’s main square is the best place to start your visit to Poznań. Established in the 13th century, many of the brightly colored buildings that surround the square are faithful reconstructions of baroque and renaissance-era buildings that were destroyed during the Second World War. Despite their young age, they are still a wonderful sight.
There are numerous bars and restaurants that spill out into the square. At night, the bars become a tad livelier, but they mostly retain a casual atmosphere with many still serving a decent menu of top-quality food.
Poznan University of Medical Sciences has 4 dormitories: Eskulap, Medyk, Aspirynka, and Karolek. These dormitories are designed for housing students in the English language program. PUMS dormitories are located within walking/biking distance from most of the University hospitals, teaching facilities, sports facilities, and the library. They are also quite close to Poznan downtown and include a private cafeteria, laundry facility, internet access, study rooms, social rooms, and parking. The student housing is protected by campus security.
The university hosts about 10 major international congresses a year. Visits of foreign researchers are a daily routine. The university cooperates regularly with universities in Rennes and Rouen (France), Turku (Finland), Berlin, Göttingen, Halle, Kiel, Magdeburg, Mainz, Munchen Regensburg (Germany), Linköping (Sweden), Oslo University College (Norway), Perugia (Italy), University of Illinois at Chicago (USA).
Many university staff members serve on the boards of international professional and scientific associations or are invited to act as advisers by the WHO and IAEA. Medical degrees awarded at the university guarantee wide national recognition. In some countries, e.g. Germany, they are accepted with no further confirmation requirements. They are routinely accepted in Sweden, Britain, the United States, and Canada. At present more than 1200 graduates of the university practice or research abroad. Many of them are clinical specialists and heads of hospital departments in Europe, North America, South Africa, and elsewhere.
The university develops scientific and educational collaboration within agreements and official contracts with European universities.
