The Pomeranian Medical University (PMU) was established in 1948 in Szczecin, Poland. There are two faculties at the University which offer studies in English: Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.
The Pomeranian Medical University has more than 500 faculty and almost 200 technical staff. Among the academic staff are 43 professors and 54 habilitated doctors. Since 1948 8060 physicians and 3314 dentists graduated from the University. 1113 researchers obtained the degree of doctor and 196 of habilitated doctor. The University employs 33 professors and 36 extraordinary professors.
The strongest advantage of the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin lies in its staff – scientists, teachers and physicians – well-educated and strongly motivated to do a good job, in many instances keeping pace with the forefront of world medicine.

Szczecin is the capital city of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland. In the vicinity of the Baltic Sea, it is the country’s 7th-largest city and a major seaport in Poland. Szczecin’s architectural style is due to trends popular in the last half of the 19th century and the first years of the 20th century, Academic art and Art Nouveau. The city has an abundance of green areas: parks and avenues – wide streets with trees planted in the island separating opposite traffic and roundabouts.
Students find that Szczecin is a lively city with the wide range of social, cultural and recreational facilities available in the region. By studying in Szczecin one gets the additional benefit of learning about a new culture. Szczecin can provide a broad spectrum of activities to do in your spare time. Activities range from golf, football and sport gyms to bowling, pool and pub crawling. The city has a wide cultural life with its own philharmonic orchestra, opera, art galleries, clubs etc.
Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin offers fully furnished and equipped single and double rooms with a kitchenette and bathroom in the university dormitory.
All rooms are equipped with beds and with beds, tables, wardrobes and everything necessary for comfortable life and study. Dormitory kitchens are equipped with fridges, electric pots, microwave ovens. The rooms have internet access.
Thanks to participation in the Erasmus + Programme, every student of the university has the opportunity to complete a period of study or traineeships abroad and each member of staff can develop their competences through foreign training or by carrying out teaching activities at partner universities. Students can also use the knowledge of incoming foreign academic teachers. The university is making efforts to join the European Student Card Initiative.
Actions are taken to facilitate student mobility by ensuring automatic recognition of study periods and traineeships carried out abroad with the use of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). International exchange at the university promotes learning foreign languages and the idea of lifelong learning.
As part of the Erasmus+ Programme, mobility of students, doctoral students, graduates and employees will be implemented in cooperation with foreign institutions and universities. PUM students will have the opportunity to study at partner universities and carry out traineeships at foreign institutions. Graduates will be able to realize graduate traineeships. Employees will be able to carry out mobility for training and for teaching. As part of the mutual exchange, the university will also host students and staff members from abroad. The implemented activities will contribute to the internationalization of the university.
