About University

The Odesa National Polytechnic University (ONPU), one of the oldest engineering training institutions in Ukraine, was founded in 1918. During the years of its existence, the Odesa polytechnics contributed significantly to the development of Ukrainian and global science and technology as well as to training skilled experts for the national economy.

Twenty thousand undergraduate, and graduate employees, and post-graduate students are trained here. The process is insured by personnel numbering 4 thousand lecturers, researchers, and practical engineers. There are more than 120 Professors and Doctors of sciences, almost 450 Associated Professors, Ph.D., and 25 honored workers of Science & Engineering of Ukraine who work in ONPU.

Structure 

Today the structure of the Odesa National Polytechnic University includes: 8 Institutes specialized in main educational and scientific fields 

• machine-building; 
• industrial technologies, 
• design, and management; 
• power; 
• radio electronics and telecommunications; 
• computer systems; 
• business, economy, and information technologies;
• electromechanics and energy consumption.

Kherson polytechnic college, 

Automotive equipment, and roads-building college.

ONPU created a “polytechnic university” complex consolidating Licea, high schools, colleges, and technical schools of the whole southern Ukraine region. 20,000 students, graduate employees, and post-graduate students are trained here, the process is effected by 4,000 lecturers, researchers, and practical engineers. There are 57 academicians and corresponding members of both special Ukraine Academies of Science, more than 120 professors and Doctors of sciences, almost 450 senior lecturers, Ph.D., 21 honored workers of Science and Engineering of Ukraine, honored worker of the National Education of Ukraine, 13 academicians of international academies.

Research

ONPU provides training for more than 20 000 students in 56 specialties. The university has a powerful research basis, its practical engineers, researchers, and scientists essentially contributed to different areas of science and technology. The 52 specialized research laboratories implement research in high-priority scientific domains: resource saving, environmental protection, fundamental research in mathematics, mechanics, computer science, new materials, automation and instrument making, etc.

Today ONPU efficiently cooperates with educational, scientific, and industrial centers in 40 foreign countries. The Odessa National Polytechnic University is a member of the European University Association and the International Association of Universities.

International Cooperation

Odessа Polytechnic, in order to enter the global higher education space and ensure the quality of future students’ training, carries out its international cooperation in strict compliance with the legal framework, concludes cooperation agreements, establishes direct relations with institutions of higher education, scientific institutions and enterprises of foreign countries, international organizations, foundations, and other partners.

The main directions of our University’s international cooperation are:

• participation at programs of bilateral and multilateral intergovernmental and inter-University level exchange with applicants studying in various levels of higher education programs as well as research and teaching staff;
• conducting joint research;
• organization of international conferences, symposiums, congresses, and other events;
• organizing and conducting international summer schools;
• participation in international educational and scientific programs;
• joint publishing activities;
• provision of services related to  higher and postgraduate education rendering to foreign nationals and stateless persons in Ukraine;
• creation of joint educational and scientific programs with foreign  higher education institutions, scientific institutions, and organizations;
• scientific and pedagogic-researcher trips abroad of researcher and teaching staff  in accordance with international treaties signed by the Ukrainian State, as well as agreements between the University and foreign partners;
• engaging the scientific and pedagogic-researcher staff of foreign higher education institutions to participate in scientific, researcher, and pedagogical work at the Odessа Polytechnic;
• sending candidates from among the Odessа Polytechnic students of various levels  of programs to study in foreign higher educational institutions;
• enabling and assisting the academic mobility of applicants for such training programs, as well as scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff of the Odessа Polytechnic.
