About University

The National University “Lviv Polytechnic” is the oldest Technical University in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. During its existence, it has established itself as an intellectual center, center of national culture, and freedom of thought and expression.

The University has more than 185 doctors of sciences, and professors, and about 1000 candidates of sciences, and associate professors. It consists of 16 institutions, 82 departments, a publishing house, library.

In the Lviv Polytechnic multistage system of specialists, training is introduced, which gives you the opportunity to receive three educational and qualification levels: Bachelor’s degree (4 years), Specialist, and Master’s degree (5-5,5 years). There are many training programs, taking into account the experience of the best technical and technological universities. Knowledge is measured by a modular control system that is determined by the rating of each student. At the National University “Lviv Polytechnic” new concepts of humanitarian and basic training are implemented.

After obtaining the qualification of specialist graduates of the National University “Lviv Polytechnic” can in accordance with the public order and by natural or legal persons continue their studies at the postgraduate level, defend the master’s thesis, and get the master’s degree.

Military Institute

Military Institute of National University“Lviv Polytechnic”, which is 2002 was 100 years old, prepares staff officers and reserve officers in 7 areas of training (geodesy, cartography, and land management; engineering mechanics, international relations, arts culture, physical education, and sport), using the pedagogical potential of the leading educational institutions of the city, military officers and logistics departments of the Lviv Polytechnic. The integration of civil and military education enables the preparation of military unique specialties (geodesy; photogrammetry; journalism; automobiles and automobile economy; international information; music art; radio, communication broadcasting and TV equipment; physical education).

The National University “Of Lviv Polytechnic” includes:

Research

The university became a center of scientific and technological research during the nineteenth century. Later, during the interbellum period, Lviv Polytechnic National University was one of central Europe’s most well-known technical educational institutions alongside The Warsaw University of Technology. In 1936, the university was awarded Order Polonia Restituta by President Ignacy Mościcki for outstanding achievements in the field of education.

During the university’s long history, there have been some particularly noteworthy professors who have conducted research or taught at Lviv Polytechnic National University. Professor Kazimierz Bartel, who had served as the Polish Prime Minister three times before taking up a professorship at the university, along with other professors such as mathematician Włodzimierz Stożek, and designer of the first welded road bridge, Stefan Bryła.
