About University

Kutaisi University is a private university in Kutaisi, Georgia. It was established in 1991 by Valerian Kelbakiani and Revaz Laghidze. Kutaisi University was the first higher educational institution in the western part of Georgia.

Being the first private university, it has become a starting point for private university establishments throughout the country. University has gained a high reputation for its continuous development, backed up by almost three decades of ongoing authorized and accredited status on a national level, and is now crowned by the international accreditation of the Medical program.

Kutaisi University implements all three-step programs: Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral programs. The following faculties are functioning at University: Medicine, Social Sciences, Business, and Law. Within the faculties, there are both Georgian and English-taught educational programs. Kutaisi University operates an economic and medical research institute and the international peer-reviewed magazine “Economic Profile” is published.

Besides, Kutaisi University focuses on the education of high quality, it also supports students for employment and interns through the Student and Alumni Service Center. Kutaisi University is an individual associate member of the EUA (European University Association). It is the fifth private university in Georgia that has joined the EUA, which is a unique opportunity to develop and elaborate European educational policy.

Student life in Kutaisi

The city of Kutaisi is located in the Imereti region, on the banks of the river Rioni. Kutaisi is the administrative center of the Imereti region. It is one of the oldest cities in Georgia and the fifth oldest city in Europe.

Today Kutaisi is the second city in Georgia with a developed infrastructure and culture. There are higher educational and vocational schools, museums, theaters, galleries, etc. in Kutaisi. The city also has restaurants, cafes, hotels, cinemas and other important facilities where you can relax and have a good time. Kutaisi attracts many tourists with its abundance of historical and cultural monuments. Ukimerioni Fortress, Gelati, Bagrati Temple, as well as many other cultural and natural monuments and the beauty of the city itself, will surely make you fall in love with Kutaisi.

Student Exchange Program 

Kutaisi University provides medical faculty students the opportunity to participate in exchange study programs, joint scientific-practical conferences, symposia, seminars, and thematic training; the possibility to conduct joint research, work on joint scientific articles and receive support for their publication. Also, participate in international grant projects – at this point, we should emphasize that UNIK has been a partner and co-coordinator in numerous international projects and has undertaken one of the greatest numbers of Erasmus + projects over decades. On regular basis, with a constant ongoing regime, we provide information to students about Erasmus + program-related or funded training and internships; scientific-practical conferences throughout the world; such scholarship programs as Chevening, Japanese, Swedish, Swiss, and other national programs and many more.
