About University

The International University of Sarajevo was established in the academic 2004/2005 year by the Foundation for Education Development Sarajevo. It is located in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. IUS serves as a leading higher education institution in the region that provides quality education, and community service, as a multicultural hub of scholarly activity focused on educational innovation and the creation and application of knowledge through research and projects. 

IUS strives to be an institution of multicultural understanding, intellectual growth, and long-term regional and global cooperation, achieved through the enrichment of students through innovative programs, academic and administrative excellence, strategic partnerships with regional and local industries, and purposeful research to promote regional and global well-being. 

For the past 18 years, this higher education institution has offered education to local and foreign students in all three study cycles. The University has developed intensively throughout the years and is among the first in Bosnia and Herzegovina who adopted the European standards of teaching. During undergraduate and postgraduate studies, students are developing in a quality intellectual atmosphere and are able to choose one of 17 study programs within the 5 faculties, containing programs in different areas ranging from industrial engineering and computer sciences through art and social sciences, pedagogical sciences, law and up to business administration and humanities. Currently, at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) we have around 2000 students studying in all 3 cycles of studies, coming from all continents and more than 45 countries of the world.

Distance Learning

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) has broken new ground in the region by launching the Webex application, which greatly improves the quality of online education, hybrid education, and distance learning. Our aim is to equip our students with the highest level of knowledge in computer systems and programming and prepare them for today’s competitive market. During the CSE study program, you will gain strong theoretical knowledge of hardware and software aspects of computing and mathematics combined with more practical problem-solving and graphic design skills. 

International University of Sarajevo (IUS), an institution performing at world standards in education and educational technologies became the first university in the region to adopt the Cisco Webex Video Conference System. The system, which enables students to attend their classes in real-time with the Webex Video Conferencing System and Microsoft Teams platforms, to instantly follow what is written on the smart board, and to access the academicians and course materials at any time, the system turns the distance learning application into a structure that nearly perfectly emulates face-to-face education.

The system, which maximizes communication between academicians, students and administrative staff, also ensures a safe classroom environment for students. In the institution, where many classrooms are equipped with 85-inch Cisco Webex. and other smart board systems, educators can interact with students instantly, as well as share content, in a fashion similar to on-campus education.

Accommodation

Mehmet Cakir Female Dormitory

Mehmet Cakir Female Dormitory is located on the campus of the International University of Sarajevo within the walking distance of the university. Since 2010, we are providing service to our students during their academic life with the knowledge that success is a result of a well-established physical and psychosocial atmosphere. With this in mind, our staff is considering the students’ comfort as a first priority for their prosperity. Mehmet Cakir Female Dormitory is a quadruplex building with a capacity of 159 students and consisting of 51 rooms which are organized as 16 double, 15 triple(separate sleeping and study room), 18 quadruple (separate sleeping and study room), and 2 five-people (separate sleeping and study room) occupancy rooms. 

The dormitory has full-time security guards who are supported by both indoor and outdoor   surveillance camera systems. To provide in-room security, students have their own personal keys.

Male Dormitory Plavi Leptir

Male Dormitory “Plavi Leptir” was established in the 2009/2010 academic year, and is part of the Foundation that has over 69 years of experience in working with students and dormitories. In the framework home, we offer double and five-bed rooms. The five bedrooms consist of an entrance hall, a bathroom with a toilet, a sleeping room, and a study room. Within the home, there is a canteen where students can buy food and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as various cooked and fast food meals at affordable prices. The canteen works every day from 10:00 to 24:00. In addition, there is a library, laundry (laundry and drying), a fitness salon, a table tennis table, a table football facility, and much more. From time to time, we organize visits to various tourist destinations and significant locations throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
