Technoparks are organizations that increase cooperation among universities, industry, research centers, entrepreneurs, and markets through knowledge and technology transfers and create an infrastructure based on development, high-tech product manufacturing, and highly valuable research. Technological inventions at Technoparks create a catalytic incubator environment for research which can then be prepared for production. Technoparks create opportunities for academic research to become commercialized within the academic environment. The creation of many academic companies would be impossible without them.
Technopark’s activity policy comprises developing students’ innovative ideas and supporting them through the process of commercialization. The creation of innovative products from novel ideas is one of our main goals. Every student’s idea is evaluated by professional teachers and experts in all aspects.
Technopark’s extensive infrastructure creates opportunities to support any academic activity. Five rooms in the University’s Narimanov building, two rooms in the High Technologies and Innovative Engineering School building, two production areas (288 sq. m. with offices) in the Ministry of Economics of the Azerbaijan Republic’s Balakhani Industry Park, a small production area (4 hectares) for students and academic staff to stay and work in our Baku-Sumgait Highway location, the Business Incubator Centre (150 sq. m.) in the new teaching building of 2018-19 and the Mechatronics, Robotics and Mechanics lab rooms (600 sq. m.) are all available for Technopark activities.
Western Caspian University distance learning programs are regularly updated with input from top international experts. Training courses provide information about specially created platforms and the methods and technologies used in remote education. These training sessions implement international experiences in distance education and provide opportunities to participate in a successful education system. In 2016-17, training on distance learning in engineering was conducted for WCU staff by distance learning expert Anris Cirulis, Ph.D., Vidzeme University.
Distance education, through internet technology, continues to expand its capabilities and is regarded as a system that reflects the synthesis of the international internet network as well as television, and employs specific teaching techniques. This new form of education not only allows for the intensification of knowledge-sharing for a wide range of potential learning, but also creates a market environment for education among consumers of new knowledge and technology.
