The Vidzeme University of Applied Science was founded in 1996 as a regional educational establishment in Latvia. In 2001 Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences changed its status from a regional governmental institution to a state educational institution.
University offers high-quality and flexible study programs that successfully balance theoretical and practical classes. These are adapted to the current needs of society, students, and changes in the labor market. The quality of the studies is ensured by over 120 experienced and professional teaching staff, their advanced study methods, as well as by students who know what they want to achieve and how to succeed.

The mission of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences as a higher education and scientific research center whose mission is to promote the development of the Vidzeme Region by offering modern high quality and competitive higher education, by doing research, and by successfully cooperating with partners in Latvia and abroad.

Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences participates in two student exchange programs: Erasmus and Nordplus. Exchange and visiting students can also apply for a Latvian Government scholarship for a study or research period in Latvia. Since 1999 it also organizes a traditional summer program called. The Baltic International Summer School is where foreign students get educated about issues concerning the Baltics. Later in 2014 the university together with Klaipeda University will launch of new joint master’s program in International Tourism Events Management.
