State Border Guard College was established in 1992 in Rezekne, Latvia. It is a professional higher education institution established by the Cabinet of Ministers of Latvia under the supervision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which provides an opportunity for persons with secondary education (border guards) who entered the college to receive first-level professional higher education.

The Border Guard Training Center in 1998  received the status of the Rezekne College of the Border Guard and was accredited as the Border Guard Annual Basic Training Program, thus gaining the right to conduct professional training of border guards and issue generally recognized diplomas of secondary vocational education for graduates.

Studying program at College provides the training of senior officers of the State Border Service to perform duties in the border guard, able to organize and manage border control, border surveillance, asylum and deportation procedures, operational activities and investigations, and economic and financial activities. structural divisions. The implementation of the curriculum is provided by teachers from the Rezekne University of Applied Sciences and the qualified teaching staff of the State Border Guard College.

International Cooperation 

 

The State Border Guard College has signed Erasmus+ institutional agreements that allow the exchange of experience and training mobility of academic and general staff within the Erasmus+ program (in the higher education sector), going to such educational establishments:

  • M. Romeris University in Lithuania – legislation, political sciences, security, languages, in the field of information technology;
  • Academy of Security Sciences in Estonia – in the field of legislation, security, languages, and information technology;
  • Police Academy in Szczytno, Poland – in the field of legislation, security, languages, and information technology;
  • Police Academy Alexandru Ioan Cuza in Bucharest, Romania – in the field of legislation, security, languages, and information technology;
  • Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sofia, Bulgaria – in the field of legislation, security, military affairs, defense, languages, management, and administration.

The State Border Guard College is also a member of the Nordplus international cooperation program. Nordplus is a program created by the Nordic Council of Ministers whose projects aim to strengthen cooperation between the Nordic and Baltic countries and improve and innovate the education systems of the participating countries. The Nordplus program supports projects that promote knowledge acquisition, sharing, and networking.
