Navoi State Pedagogical Institute was established by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Uzbek USSR in 1983. By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 28, 1992, it was granted the status of Navoi State Pedagogical Institute. 

Navoi State Pedagogical Institute is located in 6 areas of the city. Students can study pedagogy in English in 8 educational buildings for 5600 seats, take their sports classes in 5 renovated sports fields and 2 gyms, and enjoy their national or local Uzbek food in 3 student kitchens.

It started with the faculties of Uzbek language, literature, physics, and mathematics and has since expanded to include faculties of foreign languages, physical education, medicine, history, arts, natural sciences, and English language and literature.

The university has eight buildings which are spread across six different sections of the city of Navoi. It has in the region of 8,000 full-time students, the vast majority of undergraduates, and more than 5,000 part-time students including several hundred who study in the evening. It is set for continued expansion, with the national government in October 2021 announcing plans for another 6,000 student places and 20 new disciplines in pedagogy. The international relations department was created in 2018. Partnership agreements for students wanted to study MBBS abroad have recently been signed with Malaysia’s Management and Science University and for e-training with Sunderland University.

Each faculty offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Each program is introduced in the English language. The most demanded are courses in MBBS and Information Technologies.

The institute prepares bachelor’s in 27 fields of study and master’s in 17 fields. The amount of undergraduate local and international students in full-time education is 7,755, in correspondence – 1,152, in special correspondence – 1,053, and the number of students in the magistracy is 180 people.

Accommodation

 

​​The Institute has comfortable dormitories, where international students may study and live throughout the whole academic year. It is a completely renovated and well-furnished building surrounded by parks and food stores. Every dorm building has a convenient location – near the city center, bus stop, or 10-15 minutes from the Institute. 

The boys and girls live separately. Each room is shared by 2-3 people. All the rooms are fully furnished and equipped with double-glazed windows, which keep warm during the winter season. The dormitory always provides essential amenities like hot and cold water, good lighting, a common kitchen, laundry, 24-hour Wi-Fi zone. It also has a hall for cultural events and a gym. Especially great care is taken about the nutrition of students: there are two canteens on the territory of the institute, one of which specializes in the preparation of national dishes.

Navoi State Pedagogical Institute devotes particular attention to the local and international students’ safety: there is special security, a pass system, and video surveillance. The main routes from the dormitory to the campuses are protected and patrolled by officers of the guard service.
