Legal Entity of Public Law-Teaching University-Batumi State Maritime Academy is the main maritime HEI in Georgia and its history began in the 1920s. It was the first HEI to implement Quality Management Standard ISO 9001. BSMA is a member of the main maritime organizations and is working to establish partnership relations with leading universities in the world.

Currently, BSMA has two faculties: Maritime Faculty and Business and Management Faculty. Also, there are two centers that function: Vocational Education Centre and Seafarers Training and Certification Centre. All educational programs and short training courses are made according to requirements of Georgian legislation, national educational standards, and STCW convention and are compiled according to IMO recommended Model courses. Study programs have national and international recognition.

Academy offers accredited programs at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Levels.

Seafarers Training and Certification Centre offers 46 short training courses, among them there are conventional and in-house courses. 

Seafarers Training and Certification Centre

Seafarers Training and Certification Center were established on the basis of Batumi State Maritime Academy in 2012, which is equipped with modern training simulation equipment. The aim of the Seafarers Training and Certification Center is to raise the level of qualification of maritime specialists and seafarers in accordance with existing international and national legal requirements due to the high need of the global market. 

The aim of the Seafarers Training and Certification Center is to train/retrain highly competitive and highly professional staff for the internal and international markets. Seafarers Training and Certification Center is equipped with modern simulators:
